RydPool

2016

RydPool was a proof-of-concept data visualization exercise. The concept for this carpool app was inspired in part by apps like Duet and Carpool-Kids. The idea was to provide users with simple and intuitive tools to make the carpooling process fun and easy, by including features like expense sharing, commute statistics, and GPS route optimization.

Deciding on a visual language to use for the data visualization aspect of the app design was a fun challenge. I opted for a set of muted, cooler colors—purples, blues, and greys—offset with some warm, punchy yellows and oranges. Circular elements evoke steering wheels and tires, as well as a play on the word "pool." Bold, intuitive buttons and interactive elements make the app simple to use and understand.
